Fans in Brazil have been waiting for Queens of the Stone Age to perform in their country, but it appears that it won't happen anytime soon as the group announced that they will no longer play their set at a festival due to health issues; was it because of Josh Homme?
According to Loudwire, the band was initially named as one of the performers at the Town Festival in São Paulo, Brazil, this coming September 9.
However, they announced that they will no longer appear on the music festival because of someone from their group has to follow "doctor's advice."
"QOTSA regret to announce we are no longer able to travel to Brazil to perform at The Town. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and look forward to coming to Brazil in 2024," they wrote on social media.
The band will now be replaced with Yeah Yeah Yeahs for the upcoming festival.
Per the festival's announcement, Queens of the Stone Age will not be performing due to "medical recommendations."
Queens of the Stone Age Divided Over the Announcements
After it was noted that the band will no longer participate in the event even though it was announced months ago that they were coming, many fans expressed their disappointment on social media.
"An absurd lack of respect!" one user commented on the announcement on Facebook.
"That's the lack of knowledge of the organization, this change has no sense," another one wrote, translated from Portugese to English.
Another one was not happy with the replacement of the group as they wrote, "You're kidding the audience, put a band nobody knows."
As of this writing, festival organizers have yet to respond on the complaints.
Josh Homme Health Condition
The announcement comes a few months after Queens of the Stone Age founder and member, Josh Homme, announced that he underwent surgery due to his cancer.
A year prior, he told his supporters that he was diagnosed with cancer, but it was only this year when he had an operation.
As of this writing, Josh Homme has not revealed which type of cancer he has.
"Cancer is just the cherry on top of an interesting time period, you know? I'm extremely thankful that I'll get through this," he said in an interview. (via BBC)
Even though he has a health problem, it appears that Homme is determined to continue his passion as he noted that there are still a lot of things that he wanted to do.
