Eminem is calling the attention of BMI Licensing to send a cease-and-desist order to Vivek Ramaswamy, instructing him to stop performing his song while on the campaign trail to become the Republican Party's presidential candidate.
Ramaswamy is competing against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and recently arrested Donald Trump.
Eminem vs Vivek Ramaswamy 'Lose Yourself'
At the Iowa State Fair on Aug. 13, 2023, Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy stunned people and the press after he rapped word per word one of Eminem's greatest hits - "Lose Yourself."
10 days later, as gathered by Variety, Eminem's camp sent Ramaswamy's campaign lawyer a letter "objecting to the campaign's use of Eminem's musical compositions."
"BMI will consider any performance of the Eminem Works by the Vivek 2024 campaign from this date forward to be a material breach of the Agreement for which BMI reserves all rights and remedies with respect thereto," the letter states.
The video of Ramaswamy rapping Eminem made waves on social media, garnering him significant buzz ahead of the recently concluded Republican Party debate on Aug. 23, 2023.
Variety noted that although he hasn't held office, various media outlets declared him as one of the standout breakthroughs of the campaign trail.

Vivek Ramaswamy Loves Eminem
Surprisingly, aside from being a biotechnology entrepreneur, Ramaswamy is a frustrated rapper.
Speaking to The New York Times, Ramaswamy revealed that he once donned a Kangol cap and an alter ego, Da Vek, during his time at Harvard.
"I did not grow up in the circumstances he did," Ramaswamy explained as he identified with Eminem who he claims to be a longtime fan of. "But the idea of being an underdog, people having low expectations of you, that part speaks to me."
'Vivek just got on the stage and cut loose. To the American people's chagrin, we will have to leave the rapping to the real slim shady,' Ramaswamy's campaign spokesperson told The Daily Mail, in reaction to the cease and desist letter.
Since the viral campaign moment emerged on social media, Ramaswamy has been nothing but hopeful.
"I think it's a major accomplishment that many people are able to pronounce my name now. That's the true mark of a real milestone on this campaign," Ramaswamy told CNN in a press conference in Iowa. "If we got there, anything's possible."
