"He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many."

Buffett is best known for his hit song "Margaritaville," which was released in 1977. It was not his first rodeo with music, however, it was that song that launched his career.

Since then, Buffett has regularly released music since the 1970s. In fact, the singer-songwriter's most recent releases were dropped in 2020, "Life on the Flip Side" and "Songs You Don't Know by Heart."

He was gearing up to release another studio album "Equal Strain on All Parts" this year.

Jimmy Buffett's Life Aside From Music

Aside from music, Buffett made a name for himself as a businessman. He owned the restaurant chain, Margaritaville Cafe as well as another restaurant chain which is now defunct, Cheeseburger in Paradise.

He is one of the world's richest musicians, Forbes reported that he boasted a net worth of $1 billion as of this year.

Aside from "Margaritaville" being a restaurant chain and a song, it was also a lifestyle.

Buffett made a living from selling trinkets, merchandise, resorts, housing, pool floats, home decor, as well as a tequila and margarita mix.

Jimmy Buffett's Health Prior to Death

According to reports, the singer-songwriter faced a health crisis last year after he was rushed to the hospital while he was touring.

He had to cancel several shows in order to address his health which required "immediate attention."

He tried to make it up to his fans by picking up again on the canceled shows. USA Today reported that the singer surprised his fans with a concert last July.

"How 'bout I play it for you," he said. "Well, it is good to see an audience, let me tell you that."

He played alongside Mac McAnally, who was in on the surprise. "Nobody had a clue," said Buffett's daughter who accompanied him on the trip to the surprise concert. "I didn't want a surprise party for my birthday, but in reality, I did have one. The surprise was just for everyone else."
