Simon Cowell set the record straight regarding his alleged plan to quit the industry.

Cowell dealt with rumors in the past few months which claimed that would step away from the spotlight to become a stay-at-home dad. He reportedly started planning to move to the Oxfordshire countryside after his retirement from the entertainment industry.

However, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Simon Cowell is Not Retiring

Cowell shared his concrete plans in an exclusive interview with The US Sun, including his future plans for "AGT."

Far from what the retirement rumors suggested, the entertainment mogul clarified that he only tried to slow down a bit - though his passion as an artist remains a priority.

"Sometimes you get tired," he said. "Seriously, I remember thinking this time last year I felt knackered and then this year I just feel better."

He added that a lot of things also happened to him, making him realize he had things to do and decided to do, including the "boy band things."

Amid the rumors, he revealed that he had been planning the project for years and thinking that he would never do it if he did not do so now.

In addition, Cowell began preparing his son, Eric, before conquering the industry like him. The young man reportedly wants to audition for "Britain's Got Talent" to follow in his footsteps as he aims to be in a band after getting inspired by Green Day.

Although he made a huge name and empire, the patriarch assured that his son would not get preferential treatment because of him.

Simon Cowell Quitting Bad Habits Instead

While clarifying that he would remain in the industry, Cowell said he aims to quit smoking.

The 63-year-old record executive shared how he started feeling much better when he quit smoking.

"When I lost my voice earlier this year, I thought, well, I hadn't smoked for ten days, so maybe I can go three weeks or whatever," he continued. "And actually, not only can I stop, I feel the difference."

One of his health milestones includes not smoking more than two cigarettes a day in the past four months, calling the change in lifestyle "a miracle."
