Jimmy Buffett remained positive despite being in pain during his "sad last days" amid his cancer battle, his daughter revealed.
Buffett battled Merkel cell skin cancer for years before he died at his Sag Harbor, Long Island, home on September 1. Despite his health battle, he reportedly maintained a positive outlook in life and continued fighting until his last breath.
Jimmy Buffett Was "In Pain" in Sad Last Days
On Wednesday, Buffett's daughter took to Instagram to share a heartbreaking tribute for the late musician.
Delaney started the post by saying she realized that her father was "a man whose spirit could not be broken" during his final days despite being in pain.
"He was kind when he had every excuse not to be," she wrote. "He told us not to be sad or scared, but to keep the party going. And as much as I'd like to use that as an excuse to drink myself into oblivion worthy of his literary heroes, I know it's not what he meant."
The daughter also sweetly compared him to the songs about the joy he wrote when he was alive and called him the hardest-working person she ever met.
Like what Buffett's friends and colleagues said, Delaney shared how generous her father was to everyone and how his traits made people love him even more.
She ended her post with a gratitude note to her late father to honor and thank him for giving her a beautiful life.
Jimmy Buffett Was In Great Spirits Despite Health Battle
Delaney's statement came after Buffett's sister, Laurie Buffet McGuane, and her husband, Tom McGuane, sat in an exclusive interview with People during which they also reminisced about the crooner's last days.
"It is remarkable to be able to say that he remained the same during the last month of his life," Tom, who had been the singer's friend for more than five decades, said. "His sense of humor was fully intact. God bless him for keeping himself that way."
Laurie and their sister, Lucy, stayed with the musician until he took his last breath, spending the last days and minutes recalling their childhood memories.
Like Buffett, Laurie was diagnosed with cancer - pancreatic - but has since been declared cancer-free after undergoing surgery and treatment.
