One of the most highly anticipated solo album releases in KPOP right now is BTS member V's solo debut album, "Layover"; and just as many suspected, it is an instant hit.

According to reports, V's new album has already claimed the top spots on several Billboard chats, including the Digital Song Sales chart, the weekly ranking of the best songs in the US, as well as South Korea's Hanteo Chart

Hanteo Chart proclaimed V's "Layover" as the highest 1st-day sales album by a solo artist, which reportedly sold over 1.6 million copies last Sept. 8.

On top of the new milestone, V is the third solo artist in Hanteo Chart history to achieve the feat of selling over a million copies of an album on the first day of its release. The two other artists who have accomplished this feat are his fellow BTS members, Jimin and Suga.

Despite the achievements and success V's new album garnered less than 24 hours after its release, fans still had their complaints.

V's New Album Didn't Get Proper Promo?

BTS fans have outdone themselves by bringing V to the top of the Hanteo Charts, beating some of the biggest solo acts in KPOP, like Lim Young-Woong and BLACKPINK's Jisoo.

However, fans were unsatisfied with the KPOP star's label for their lack of promotion and preparation for V's solo debut.

According to reports, Hanteo Chart announced that they had "overcounted" the sales by over 500,000. It was subsequently deducted, but "Layover" is still the biggest debut by a solo artist in the music chart's history.

BTS V 'Layover' Album Shortage

Additionally, reports also say that there was such high demand for the album that HYBE had a hard time keeping up with it. A retailer called KPOP Merch failed to secure the stocks but still continued receiving purchases, which only infuriated fans even further.

Fans blamed HYBE for the discrepancy, and days before the album was released, fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their disappointment.

"TAEHYUNG'S LAYOVER IS LESS THAN 5 DAYS AWAY BUT BIGHIT STILL DROPPING CONTENTS FROM OTHER MEMBERS," a fan angrily wrote.

"WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO FOCUS ON TAEHYUNG?? WHERE'S THE PROMOTIONS??"

"HYBE PROMOTE TAEHYUNG. HYBE PROMOTE LAYOVER," other fans demanded, tagging the label in their posts.
