Fans are shocked as news of Nicki Minaj hosting the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards coincides with the performance of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "Bongos" on the same show.
Separately, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion have their own respective issues with Minaj, who will be hosting the show.
Nicki Minaj Hosting VMAs
Last week, it was announced by the MTV Video Music Awards that Nicki Minaj will be hosting the 2023 VMAs for the second time. This was her second consecutive year of hosting, after last year's stint with Jack Harlow and LL Cool J.
Minaj was the most recent artist who hosted the show for two consecutive years; comedian Russell Brand was the last one to do it in the late 2000s.
The Barbz and many were elated that Minaj would be hosting the shows again, but they were particularly stunned when it was announced days after that Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion were performing at the show too. (via Yahoo News)
It would be a particularly awkward moment for the three of them because they do not have the most comfortable relationship with each other.
Nicki Minaj, Cardi B Feud
Notably, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B have been pitted against each other since 2017. Specifically, in 2018, Cardi B and Nicki Minaj got into a scruffle at the New York Fashion Week when Cardi B left with a head bump. (via Rolling Stone)
She then took to Instagram to speak about the situation, alluding to Minaj starting the fight, saying that she asks artists not to work with her, and even going to the lengths of questioning her ability to take care of her daughter.
Since then, Nicki Minaj and Cardi B fans have long been mortal enemies, even on Twitter.
Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion Feud
The two rappers had a falling out with each other after the release of "Hot Girl Summer," one of the songs that catapulted Meg to popularity.
Some fans claimed that Megan used Nicki to get a feature, and after doing so, she switched sides and has apparently been dissing Nicki Minaj in some of her verses and songs.
Fans picked up on how "messy" it is going to be for the upcoming VMAs, but nonetheless, it leaves everyone hooked and wanting to see the show if anything interesting happens!
