CeeLo Green: controversial comments
After his no contest plea regarding slipping ecstasy to his then-girlfriend without her knowledge or consent, Green logged onto his Twitter earlier this week in order to defend himself. "If someone is passed out they're not even WITH you consciously," he tweeted. "People who have really been raped REMEMBER!!!" Green then went on to say that ""So if I TRIED but did NOT succeed but the person said I DID then what really happened?"
Though Green was not formally charged with rape due to a lack of evidence, he still attempted to define the act and defend himself on Twitter, failing miserably.
Amidst outcry from fans and observers, Green deleted his Twitter earlier this week. He reinstated the social media account yesterday (Sept. 3) and offered a semi-apology for the statements "attributed" to him on the site.
He has deleted his initial comments regarding the case.
It's been a bad week for Green, despite getting just three years of probation and 45 days of community service in his court case. Following outcry from women's advocacy groups and poor ratings, his TBS reality program The Good Life was cancelled after just six episodes and one season.
