Weeks after releasing her new song "Single Soon," Selena Gomez seemingly removed it from music streaming platforms, like Spotify and Apple Music, leaving fans confused.
"Why would they do that?" One asked, and another replied, "I don't know."
"Why would they remove it? I need clear answers," another demanded.
According to reports, some fans claimed that the song might have been removed due to "security reasons," although this is an unfounded claim.
As of this writing, there has been no explanation released by Gomez or her team as to why the song disappeared from music streaming platforms, although the music video is still up on YouTube.
Selena Gomez's New Song 'Single Soon'
The "Lose You to Love Me" singer dropped the song two weeks ago, and fans were fully convinced that she might be making a comeback, after years of relatively staying out of the spotlight in the music industry.
Gomez has been focusing more on her acting career, as well as her makeup brand, Rare Beauty, setting her music career to the side.
"Single Soon" is her first single since the release of her song "My Mind & Me," which was in support of Gomez' documentary with the same title.
The recently released song is a different spin on the usual formula of breakup songs because she sings about feeling excited about being single.
Selena Gomez at the MTV VMAs
While there are no official reports on what might have caused the song to be removed from music streaming platforms, some fans think it might have something to do with Gomez's recent appearance at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
Cameras were constantly directed at her, trying to catch every reaction she had during the award show, which only proved to be hurtful towards the singer as netizens poked fun at her.
According to reports, when Chris Brown's name was announced, cameras caught Gomez scrunching up her face before eventually smiling and clapping.
Netizens immediately took notice and voiced their opinions online, however, the "Rare" singer was having none of it.
She responded to a video of herself, "Who cares [laughing out loud]."
In another instance, Gomez took to Instagram and expressed her frustration with the video going viral, "I will never be a meme again. I'd rather sit still than be dragged for being myself. Much love."
