Olivia Rodrigo is one of the biggest young artists in the world right now. As she spilled her "Guts" on the top of the Billboard 200 chart, it solidified Rodrigo as this generation's biggest star.
Rodrigo is one to look back to her idols, which include Taylor Swift, Alanis Morrisette, Avril Lavigne, Hayley Williams, and Lana Del Rey. The latter, who has been dubbed as one of the Modern Day Queen of Alternative, has also expressed her love for Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish.
Lana Del Rey Talks About Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lana Del Rey was candid in her thoughts and revelations. Among her confessions, she raved about the two huge singers.
"Billie and Olivia are such good people, it's f-king awesome," she mused. "I love them and their music. It's not like you have to be nice to be good [in music]. But, if you happen to be nice and a great singer, it makes me happy for the culture."
Very recently, Billie Eilish captured the world again with her tearful self-introspection ballad for the "Barbie" movie - "What Was I Made For." The track was reported by insiders as one of the shoo-ins for the 2024 Academy Awards. If Eilish were nominated, it would be her second nomination, if she wins, it's her second Oscar.
Olivia, on the other hand, proved to the world that she's not a one-album-hit wonder. She continued to surpass the expectations that were laid on her smash debut album "Sour" with her critically acclaimed sophomore project "Guts." She achieved a huge career milestone by being the first female artist in nine years to place her debut and sophomore album of her career at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Ariana Grande was the last one to that.
"I always had girls telling me [things like] that. Maybe not the critics or anybody else - but singers I knew, no matter how big or small, would write me letters. I always felt like the older sister to pretty much everyone I ever met," Del Rey added.
True enough, Rodrigo has always considered Del Rey as an inspiration and a teacher.
Olivia Rodrigo Muses About Lana Del Rey
In the same feature with The Hollywood Reporter, Olivia Rodrigo gushed about Del Rey's songwriting prowess.
"Lana's work taught me how effective sentimentality can be in songwriting ... She defies any stereotypes of what a woman writing pop songs should or shouldn't be. She's constantly pushing boundaries and making work that is fresh, adventurous and unabashedly feminine," she told the outlet.

"Lana has raised an entire generation of music lovers and songwriters like me," Rodrigo said at the time. "And taught them that there's beauty in their vulnerability and power in their melancholy."
