There is no doubt in the world that Jake Owen's daughter Pearl is as cute as they come. There is also no doubt that she is the apple of her daddy's eye and the center of his universe. He shares pictures and videos and fans start grinning. Recently, however, some of those warm fuzzies took a backseat with some fans.
Jake shared a video of he and Pearl on the way to their first father-daughter fishing trip. She is adorable in her little purple romper with a straw hat and while you don't see Jake, you can almost hear the grin in his voice as he asks, "Where are we going?" and she gleefully replies, "Fishin!" while she shakes her snack bag of goldfish to emphasize her delight.
"So what's wrong with that?" you're probably wondering. Not a thing - except for the fact that little Pearl, who's not quite two, is sitting in the seat by herself and there is no car seat in sight. While there were no negative comments on Jake's Instagram (where he posted the video), that wasn't the case on 97.3 The Eagle's Facebook (where they reported about it). While lots of fans commented that Pearl is "cute," "adorable," and "precious," some also asked where the car seat is, which ignited some other fans' burners and had them rushing to his defense. "Are you guys really questioning his parenting....I'm sure he wouldnt put his daughter in danger....this video is meant to be adorable not for you to ask where her car seat is," is how one fan summed it up.
While I don't think for one second that Jake would knowingly do anything to put Pearl in danger, the sad fact is that no one ever plans for a car wreck. Unless they were sitting in the driveway, waiting to put the car seat in (which is entirely possible), it was risky since you just never know what the next moment will bring. While they say that some of the best music comes from heartbreak, a song about the loss of a child is something I never want to hear coming from Jake (or any other artist for that matter).
