Deezer has bumped up its subscription costs for the second time in 12 months on various territories.
The music subscription and rental platform has been the leading music streaming application in France and Brazil, making it the fifth or sixth-largest worldwide.

In Europe, individual premium prices are now €11.99 per month, adding a €1 hike. Meanwhile, the €11.99 price of individual Deezer premium subscriptions in the United Kingdom remains the same.
However, the premium costs for family membership in the United Kingdom and other key territories in Europe bumped up to €19.99 from €17.99, a €2 hike on its current price tag.
Meanwhile, in the United States, the pricing for Deezer individual and family subscriptions remain the same - $10.99 for individuals and $17.99 for families. New subscribers can enjoy a two-month free trial in the United States once they register. (via Deezer)
Deezer was the first major music streaming service in the world to have a subscription hike in the US by a dollar last year. Streaming platforms followed suit, with Spotify being the last as they were reluctant to increase prices. They received flak for doing this.
"This is the most ambitious change to the economic model since the creation of music streaming and a change that will support the creation of high-quality content in the years to come," Deezer CEO Jeronimo Folgueira said in a statement. "At Deezer we always put music first, providing a high-quality experience for fans and championing fairness in the industry."
According to Folgueira, the company is now embracing a "necessary change" to "better reflect the value of each piece of content and eliminate all wrong incentives, to protect and support artists."
Why Did Deezer Increase Their Subscription Costs?
Deezer's move to increase subscriptions came at a point in the industry where streaming has become a commodity, as users are now willing to pay a higher premium cost for the services.
Last July 2023, Spotify had its first-ever price hike in the US since the company's launch in 2011. It is now priced at $10.99 for individual plans - the same price for Apple Music, Amazon Prime Music, and YouTube Music.
