Years after his "The X Factor" win, Myles Stephenson opened up about his "hidden addiction" that derailed his finances and relationships with other people.
Stephenson notably appeared on "The X Factor" in 2017 alongside his bandmates: Ashley Fongho, Mustafa Rahimtulla and Jamaal Shurland. They wowed the crowd and outshined singer Grace Davies.
However, behind the fame was a dark past Stephenson kept for a long time.
What Happened to Myles Stephenson?
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Stephenson spoke candidly about his hidden addiction that left him in debt to his friends.
The "I Want You To Freak" singer, now 32, said he went through a gambling addiction when he was 19 and spent $800 on his toxic habit.
"When I was nineteen years of age, £800 to spend on gambling was a lot of money," he said. "I was in debt to my friends since I would have to borrow from them and pay them back at the end of the month."
Stephenson said he spent hours joining online betting sites while starting his office job, and his gambling activities continued until he was 22. His parents reportedly found out about his struggles when he quit it after five years and started working on himself to get back on his feet.
According to the "Rotate" singer, he got through it after realizing the impact of gambling on his mental health, recalling how he felt a sinking feeling and a hole in his chest because of his addiction.
After his "The X Factor" stint, he eventually joined "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!" and finished seventh in 2019.

Myles Stephenson's Son Suffered Health Issue
Prior to his recent revelation, Stephenson revealed in June that his son suffered a stroke when he was six months old.
"When Shiloh was around six months old we noticed he wasn't using his right hand & it was constantly in a fist," the singer detailed. "As first time parents we didn't think much of it, especially because at his developmental checks we mentioned him seeming very left handed."
The "La Bomba" crooner added that they started noticing something was wrong when his son started walking, but he kept on dragging his right foot.
After several consultations, they found out that his son had damage on the left side of his brain due to hemiplegic cerebral palsy.
