Angus Cloud's mother looked back at the actor-singer's opioid use following the confirmation of his cause of death.

Lisa Cloud found her son unresponsive inside their Oakland, Calif., home on July 31 and immediately dialed 911 to ask for help, but he was soon declared dead following a drug overdose.

Angus Cloud's Opioid Use Started Earlier Than Expected

In one of his final Instagram posts, the "Euphoria" star uploaded a throwback photo of himself while staying in a hospital room. He revealed that he fell into a 10-foot-deep construction pit when he was around 15 years old and woke up 12 hours after the fall.

Despite his injuries, he climbed back to survive the accident and rode a bus back home.

"It was h---- hard to climb out because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn't, so all the bleeding was internal, pressing up against my brain," he told Variety. "But they wasn't gonna find me down there. I found myself."

Lisa, however, initially thought he was only high when he arrived, but she noticed something was truly wrong with him when he started slurring his words. By the time Cloud wanted to sleep, his mother prevented him from doing so and accompanied him to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery and spent five days in the ICU.

In a new interview with People, Lisa confirmed that the incident led Cloud to start his opioid use. Though he initially used it to relieve his pain, it eventually caused him to suffer with substances, as well.

"I mean, there were [other] things that may have worked, but he never did any of them," the grieving mother said. "And when you have that much pain, you just want relief."

The mother and Cloud's "Euphoria" costar Sam Levinson admitted that they were unaware of his drug use amid his skyrocketing career.

Aside from the brain injury he sustained, the late star also suffered a heel injury that left him in debilitating pain. He refused to undergo surgery.

Levinson, on the other hand, proposed a rehab program - paid for by HBO - which Cloud successfully completed. Although he relapsed, Levinson helped him again to have another intervention.

Unfortunately, the death of Cloud's father pushed him to turn to drugs again as he deal with pain until it led to his fatal overdose.
