Lil Tay's father responded to a new accusation that he was behind the death hoax that appeared in the headlines in August.
In a new Instagram Story post on Tuesday, September 26, Lil Tay's official Instagram page claimed that her father, Christopher Hope, was the one who spreaded the fake news. The post also featured a photo of the patriarch alongside the text: "My abusive, racist, misogynistic, woman-beating father faked my death."
The account also wiped the content and left a fake post that revealed the alleged death of the YouTube rap star in August.
Lil Tay's Father Denies New Post
Following the emergence of the post, Hope exclusively told a news outlet that the update was "false and defamatory." He warns that it could lead to civil court once he takes legal action.
"The person responsible for that Instagram post, as well as anyone repeating the completely false and libelous accusation within it, are virtually certain to become defendants in a defamation lawsuit," the patriarch told the news outlet.
Christopher declared that the things stated on the post were 100 percent false.
The social media update came after Lil Tay's mother, Angela Tian, started a custody battle with Christopher. Her attorneys Lorne MacLean, K.C. and Fraser MacLean said that the father was ordered to pay $275,000 in back child support and that he would need to pay for it monthly going forward.
She also expressed how she and Lil Tay had faced severe depression because of his "disgusting financial motivation."
Lil Tay's Death Was a PR Move
The parents' jabs came after internet users slammed Lil Tay and her family for igniting the death hoax as part of their PR strategies.
Her former manager, Harry Tsang, shared a similar statement during his interview with The Mirror and initially thought that her brother had something to do with it.
Tsang added that if the post was made to make Lil Tay gain attention again, it was an "irresponsibility."
"It's essential to consider the potential repercussions of employing such tactics, particularly given their potential impact on the perceptions and sentiments of the broader audience," he continued.
Lil Tay rose to fame in 2018 when she posted photos and videos flaunting her wealth. She took a break afterward, and people believe that the recent development aims to make the public follow her before her official return.
