With summer 2014 sadly at an unofficial end, there's still rumblings of what song defined the hottest months of the year. Though Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX may have had the "official" charted song of the summer according to Billboard with "Fancy," critics and music fans seem relatively unhappy with that distinction, looking for other factors to dictate the best song to define this season.
Today (Sept. 4), Spotify unveiled its global and national most-streamed songs of the summer, and the distinction does not go to Azalea.
The most streamed song across the globe from Memorial Day to Labor Day was... the fittingly titled Calvin Harris single "Summer."
According to E! Online, "Summer" was the most-played song across the world, followed closely by other non-Azalea leading singles from Ariana Grande ("Problem") and MAGIC! with "Rude."
On the global list, "Fancy" comes in fourth, sandwiched between "Rude" and Jason Derulo's "Wiggle."
Check out the 10 most streamed songs across the world from summer 2014 below:
1. Calvin Harris, "Summer"
2. Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea, "Problem"
3. MAGIC!, "Rude"
4. Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX, "Fancy"
5. Jason Derulo ft. Snoop Dogg, "Wiggle"

Though Harris rules around the world, Azalea does still bring home the "Fancy" gold in the U.S. with the most Spotify streams.
Not unlike the official Billboard Songs of the Summer Chart, "Fancy" came in at No. 1 above "Rude," "Problem" and, surprisingly, Nico & Vinz's "Am I Wrong."
