Thy Art Is Murder immediately moved on from CJ McMahon after firing the vocalist following his controversial remarks.
The Australian band confirmed in a statement that it parted ways with McMahon prior to the release of its new album, "Godlike." The band members also ended up delaying its release for a week because of the controversy.
After deciding to let go of the vocalist, it immediately found a replacement and marked its first show with the new singer.
Thy Art Is Murder Finds New Vocalist
On Wednesday, September 27, Thy Art Is Murder introduced Aversions Crown's Tyler Miller as McMahon's replacement and the band's new vocalist.
Miller formally joined the band on its show in Germany to support the new album.
The 33-year-old vocalist famously became part of The Guild before he replaced Mark Poida in Aversions Crown in 2019. He also expanded his career and released his studio album with the latter band, "Hell Will Come For Us All."
Thy Art Is Murder and Aversions Crown already toured together in the past, so Miller would not need a long time to adjust.
The band replaced McMahon and changed his vocals on the album after the vocalist's controversial remark. It released a statement to confirm the development due to "an unforeseen change."
"What transpired over the past month was not the cause of this action, but just another symptom of the drawn out breakdown in his character and judgment," Thy Art Is Murder wrote. "The straw that broke the camels back if you will long story short the fallout has been immense."
CJ McMahon Criticized
Lambgoat shared McMahon's comment on a video he posted on Instagram showing a mother asking a young child about their gender. The vocalist then said the mother "should be burned to death."
His comment immediately sparked backlash, with some fans threatening not to listen to Thy Art Is Murder's new album.
"Welp, guess I won't be listening to the new Thy Art is murder album, and if it ends up being the case that cj's a bigot/ an overall right wing nut," another added. "Then I may not listen to them at all unless they fire him."
Thy Art Is Murder's Europe tour will end on October 28 at Carlswerk Victoria.
