Almost three decades since Tupac Shakur's death in September 1996, there seems to be some good news.
A fresh development has been made as Las Vegas police apprehended a suspect of murder on Friday.
This event has sparked renewed interest in a tragedy that fascinates many across America.
On September 7, 1996, an event would shock fans and fellow artists alike. Tupac, often known by his stage names 2Pac or Makaveli, was shot four times in a car as a white Cadillac Sedan pulled up on its passenger side.
Changes rapper Tupac was taken to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, where he had to be put on life support.
On September 13, 1996, Tupac Shakur passed away at 25. The official cause of death: respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest associated with gunshot wounds.
Although a murder investigation was opened in hopes of finding answers, one year later, Sgt Kevin Manning from Metro Police showed that they still had no progress - standing at "a standstill."
Though Tupac's death remains an enigma, numerous theories have come to the surface over time.
The Mirror explored some of these wild speculations... Despite extensive journalistic research and investigations, nobody has been convicted about the death of Tupac.
Faked Death
2018 saw a strange claim from Todd Anthony Shaw, also known as Too Short. The rap friend of the late Tupac declared that he believed the hip-hop star faked his death.
He spoke on Vlad TV about this and said: "I'm just saying that not every politician did not die of car crashes, and some of them got killed. Some of those plane crashes were deliberate. Spill s--t over to hip hop - it is a possibility. It ain't just open and shut."
This left many wondering - Is Tupac truly still alive?
Gave Hints That Faking Death Was An Option
Inspired by the Italian strategist and political thinker Niccolò Machiavelli, one of Tupac's other names was Makaveli.
An interesting fact is that when you switch up the letters in Makaveli, they form "Am Alive K."
Additionally, his album "The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory" featured an image of Jesus Christ on the cover - a reference to Jesus' resurrection after seven days.
After The Cremation
The day after Tupac Shakur passed away, Suge Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records, to which the rapper was signed, shelled out a staggering three million dollars for his cremation.
According to the cremator's records, Tupac measured in at 6ft tall and 11 stone; however, his driver's license listed him as 5ft 10 and 12 stone.
A ceremony held in tribute was abruptly canceled at the last minute, and no one ever heard from the person responsible for Tupac's cremation again.
Tupac Sightings Everywhere
The shocking news of the rapper, who had a highly successful album, "All Eyez on Me," has been met with disbelief.
Followed by rumors that Tupac is still out there somewhere, sightings have been reported around the world. A particularly interesting one was in Cuba in 2004.
A video was uploaded to YouTube featuring Suge Knight chatting to a man indistinguishable from Tupac...except for one thing - he seemingly didn't have any tattoos visible on the back of his head.
It has been over a decade since Tupac's demise, yet in 2011, a video emerged that stunned the world: TMZ acquired footage of a man who bore an uncanny resemblance to the late rapper drinking beers in a bar in New Orleans.
A widely-circulated theory on the internet stated that Tupac and Yaki Kadafi of Outlawz hip-hop group were observed in East Africa, potentially indicating that they could be hiding there.
As reported by the Daily Star, an anonymous man asserted: "I have viewed Tupac Shakur and Yaki Kadafi after their supposed deaths in Somalia."
Leaked, Modern Pics of Tupac
Though Tupac seemed to have settled into a new life in Scotland, he still kept up an acquaintance with a few famous people.
Reportedly, Huzler's website claimed that they had seen 2Pac outside of a nightclub with none other than pop icon Beyoncé.
Moreover, even 50 Cent and the rap legend were pictured together, although where the photo was taken remains unknown.
