Britney Spears caused worry and panic among her fans and local authorities when she uploaded a video of her playing with what was initially thought to be sharp knives last week.
Turns out, it was just a fake knife prop she used to copy Shakira's dance moves. Now, it was reported that the shop where she bought it has been saved from struggling.
Britney Spears Knife Dance Video
On Sept. 26, 2023, Britney stunned her fans leaving them worried after she uploaded her weekly dance video while playing with sharp knives.
At the time, the caption of her post did not include a disclaimer that it was fake, which caused worry and panic among her fans. Police officials rushed to her house to give her a welfare check after the video made waves on social media.
After a few days, Spears shared another video, revealing that the knives were just fake props she brought from Hand Prop Shop in Los Angeles.
She also added that she only used the knife to copy her favorite performer, Shakira.
"These are not real knives. No one needs to worry or call the police. I'm trying to imitate one of my favorite performers Shakira ... a performance I was inspired by !!! Cheers to us bad girls who aren't afraid to push boundaries and take risks," she captioned her new video.
In August 2023, sources close to Sam Asghari, Britney's now-estranged husband, revealed that he was "particularly concerned" because Spears had a "fascination with knives" as she had plenty all over the house, including her own bedroom. It is not known whether these were props or actual knives.
Hand Prop Shop in Los Angeles Spike in Sales
According to TMZ, the rentals and online purchases of the Hand Prop Shop in Los Angeles, California, the prop shop where Britney Spears bought her convincing knives, have spiked since the video was posted.
Per the outlet, the video has resulted in double online traffic and calls. Rental sales for the knives have gone up to 50%.
Turns out, the shop was near financial ruin because of the stoppage of film and television production in Hollywood due to the writers and actors strike.
Partially thanks to Spears, the shop has been saved from closure. As gratitude, the shop has been pumping out the pop princess songs non-stop.
