Troye Sivan is only days away from releasing his new album "Something to Give Each Other" and as a treat for his fans, he recently performed his lead single as well as a cover track of Billie Eilish's famous song; watch the performance below.
According to Billboard, the musician dropped by BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge where he belted out his own rendition of "What Was I Made For" which was made popular by Greta Gerwig's "Barbie."
The Australian star's own version is completely different from Eilish's as he was backed by a guitar instrumental as well as a keyboard. However, the two versions are similar when it comes to their unique angelic voices.
Fans immediately shared their excitement in the comment section, with one writing, "as a blue neighbourhood girly this made my day tyvm x," referring to his debut album "Blue Neighbourhood."
"After 8 years I am still so awestruck by Troye So grateful to have grown up with his music in my ears, it has been and is a true gift," another one wrote.
"The tone, the sadness in your voice like this song fits you SO WELL!!! I am just picturing a duet of you and Billie together my god WE NEED THIS VERSION PLEASE," one expressed.
Troye Sivan 'Something to Give Each Other'
In addition to the Billie Eilish song, the singer also performed the lead single of his new album titled "Rush" but it sounded completely different from the studio version.
Speaking of his new album, the singer's next project, "Something to Give Each Other," will be available for streaming on major music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, this coming October 13, 2023.
As of this writing, the only released songs were "Rush" and "Got Me Started." The complete tracklist has yet to be revealed, but based on the Apple Music page, the album will feature 10 new songs.
What Took Troye Sivan So Long to Release a New Album
It's been five years since Troye Sivan last released an album; "BLOOM" came out in 2018. However, he was able to release an EP titled "In A Dream" in 2020.
In a previous Instagram post, the singer explained that he didn't mean to take that long to release a new record, however, he went on tour then the pandemic started.
In addition, he also starred in the HBO series "The Idol."
"Enough excuses now. Enough saying 'soon' this is for YOU and it starts NOWWWW," he teased fans.
