Taylor Swift's fans raged against Dan Katz, the host of Barstool Sports, after his offensive, misogynistic remarks about wanting to see a sex tape of the singer and her rumored boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in order to confirm their relationship.
However, the "Anti-Hero" singer's fans were not the only ones who shut down the "joke" and criticized the host, fellow celebrity Rachel Zegler came to Swift's defense.
"It's not news that the media is particularly (and unwarrantedly) cruel to Taylor Swift, but the way men feel entitled to speak about women, their bodies and their sex lives needs to be seriously evaluated," the "West Side Story" star wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
"You will never see people speaking this way about a man," the actress continued. "That goes for a lot of different scenarios. We do not pick apart men's attitudes and relationships the way we do women's. And it's not always just men who speak this way about us. Women can and do, too. It sucks. Leave Taylor Swift alone!"
Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce's Rumored Relationship
The backlash thrown Katz's way came quickly after he shared his thoughts about Swift and the NFL star's rumored relationship.
"If Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift release a sex video, I'll consummate this relationship and be like, 'Fine,'" he said during an episode of the "Pardon My Take" podcast.
Fans and Zegler were quick to point out that his statement is not a joke and should not be taken lightly, in fact, they demand that he be held accountable for it.
"Seeing a lot of 'it's a joke' but you've got to understand that since the beginning of time 'you can't take a joke' has been synonymous with 'let me say a horrible thing about women without suffering the consequences,'" Zegler doubled down when netizens tried to "explain" that it was a joke. "We're sick and tired! It's never been funny! Get a life!"
Taylor Swift, Misogynist Remarks
Swift is no stranger to people sharing misogynistic remarks about her. Ever since she was a teenager and new to the music industry, people would talk about her relationships and speculate about her ex-boyfriends non-stop.
This is one of the reasons why Swift hid from the public for quite some time before eventually returning and releasing her album "Reputation," which tackled her image as an artist.
Additionally, Kelce has opened up about wanting to keep whatever is going on between the two of them private; "What's real is that it is my personal life and I want to respect both of our lives."
