Jason Derulo has finally responded to the lengthy accusation that singer Emaza Gibson has filed at the Los Angeles Federal Court.
Gibson, an aspiring singer, claimed that she was signed to Derulo's music imprint. In exchange for the security of his record deal, Derulo has been asking her for sexual advances.
Jason Derulo Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Statement
In a statement issued by Jason Derulo on Instagram last Oct. 5, 2023, Thursday night, the "Swalla" singer dismissed the allegations outright.
"I wouldn't normally comment but these claims are completely false and hurtful," he said in a video post. "I stand against all forms of harassment and I remain supportive of anybody following their dreams. I've always strived to live my life in a positively impactful way, and that's why I sit here before you deeply offended, by these defamatory claims. God bless."
The video has since amassed more than 160,000 likes on the platform, and the comments are all praises for Derulo - with fans hoping that the matter would be resolved.
"Jason don't give up! We are with you. You are too good person," a fan affirmed.
"Those who know you KNOW how out of the realm of possible this is. We've traveled the world together and I've never seen you be anything but respectful and overly generous to everyone around you," Derulo's friend supported.
"Mad props to you addressing this swiftly & doing it yourself instead of relying on PR or a lawyer to handle it. Hang in there," another commented.
"Jason we love you and always have your back. No weapon formed against you shall prosper," one wrote.
"Usually he's the comedian so I guess none of us expected this and I was waiting on the punch line. Hope it all works out for both parties, geesh," someone said.
Jason Derulo Sued
In an expose interview by NBC News, Emaza Gibson revealed that he was asked multiple times by Jason Derulo on a dinner date and alcohol, which she has denied regularly.
"I told him that I wasn't a drinker ... so it's like, you know, you're not listening to that the first time I tell you, and you're still pushing on me," Gibson confessed. "It's, like, pressure at this point."
At one point during the interview, the singer alleged that Derulo had asked her to do "goat skin and fish scales," which she found out later on that it meant snorting cocaine and offering goat and blood rituals before sex.
"I'm at this point in my life right now, it's very heartbreaking. I have anxiety; I'm traumatized. I've dealt with inhumane work situations. ... I'm at this point where I'm back to zero and I have nothing," Gibson told the outlet.
