David Coverdale shared the latest update about his health after canceling Whitesnake's 2023 tour.

Coverdale's persistent upper respiratory infection led the singer and his band to put their farewell tour on hold. He revealed that he caught the "worst sinus infection" in 2022, which constantly affected his performance.

Months after starting his break, the musician shared a new update regarding his health and Whitesnake's future.

Speaking during the Wednesday, October 11, episode of SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk," Coverdale said that he and the Whitesnake members are in touch all the time.

He assured the fans that the band is still there and has more plans to offer, but he could not promise anything soon unless he gets his physical strength back.

"I had a fall recently, which I don't think helped my... I've got two torn rotator cuffs, which would certainly compromise my performance," he said. "But arthritis, all this kind of stuff's kicking in."

Coverdale took his time to send his wishes to Steven Tyler, whose health affected the Aerosmith tour. He admitted that getting older and having the burden of responsibility to always do good also affected him.

As of now, the musician said he could not commit to anything until he knows his exact health status since the last thing he wants to do is to tour again, only to postpone it afterward.

What Happened to David Coverdale?

Coverdale first opened up about his illness this year in his May interview with Rockonteurs. He shared how bad his respiratory infection was that it got on his cords.

He also told "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" on April 24 that he would love to see Whitesnake on stage again in 2024. Although they decided to take a break this year, they reportedly received more invitations to perform in Japan - which he declined because of his health issues.

"I literally flew home July the 4th, and it took all that time to actually - and an assortment of the worst antibiotics, I think, I've ever had to take, coupled with prednisone, which I don't recommend to anyone," he said. "That's big-fat-face stuff - steroids. So, yeah, it was very challenging in every way, shape and form for a long time."
