Cher has angrily refuted allegations that she orchestrated the kidnapping of her son Elijah Blue Allman in an apparent attempt to intervene on his behalf due to his claimed difficulties with substance usage.

The 77-year-old singer of the hit song "Believe" maintained the allegations were false in an interview with The New York Post on Friday.

She explained: "I didn't do it, and if I did it, I wouldn't say I did it."

"You never stop being a mum - you go to the end, you go to the mattresses when you're trying to save your children. But I didn't do it. And if I did it, I wouldn't care to tell you," Cher added.

Following a report that alleged the music legend hired four men in November 2022 to kidnap Elijah from a New York City hotel room as part of a staged intervention, the burlesque star's categorical answer has come to light.

The accusations were included in divorce documents submitted by Marieangela King, Allman's former wife, in December of last year. In the records, King also claimed that one of the four guys had told her that Cher had recruited him.

King allegedly stated in the documents, "I am currently unaware of my husband's wellbeing or whereabouts. I am very concerned and worried about him. I understand his family's efforts to make sure he is well, and I want what is best for my husband."

In an interview with People a few weeks ago, Cher again refuted the claims, saying: "That rumor is not true." On her son's apparent issues with addiction, she did nonetheless speak openly.

She said she does not have any problems that millions of people in the United States don't. She said she is a mother, after all.

In another interview with Los Angeles Times, The "Believe" singer remembered her "difficult, challenging, exciting, interesting" parenting moments but acknowledged that none of her spouses made it simple to raise kids. She also admitted to working nonstop so her kids suffered as a result. From 1964 to 1975, Cher was wed to Sonny, the other half of the singing duo Sonny & Cher. In 1969, they had their only child, Chastity.
