Rick Astley claimed he had been having hearing problems and chose to have it checked.
He discovered he had some hearing loss, which he attributed to playing the drums as a child and working in the music business.
As part of a hearing awareness campaign, Rick Astley redone his classic song "Never Gonna Give You Up" with the incorrect lyrics.
New lyrics from the 1987 single include "You wouldn't catch nits from any other guy" and "Your aunt's been naked".
Astley said: "I had great fun re-recording the song with Specsavers and discovering the amusing ways people have misheard my song.
"It felt weird singing different lyrics, but I'm pleased to be raising awareness of hearing loss, as there is still a stigma around this."
"It showed I have some hearing loss, which I was not fully aware of," he said.
"It's probably a result of playing the drums as a kid and working in the music industry, so they've given me my first hearing aids.

In order to try to persuade listeners to have their hearing tested, the new version of the song contains lyrics that they may have previously misheard.
For the Specsavers-led campaign, Astley also received hearing aids.
Two hearing aids were given to Astley; one was an invisible-in-canal and the other was a receiver-in-canal. One in three persons acknowledged changes in their hearing over a ten-year period, according to a Specsavers poll, yet 57% took no action to address the issue.
"It's important to remember that everyone's hearing is different. Some people lose high notes, others lose low frequency sounds.
"I'd encourage anyone to get their hearing tested if they notice any changes, so they don't lose the sounds or music they love," he said.
The 80s icon and nemesis of internet users everywhere, Rick Astley, recently opened up about his interaction with Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon during his first trip to the country in an interview with Classic Rock magazine. Astley got the chance to perform on stage with some of the best live musicians of the era when The Prince of Darkness promised to assist him find a backup band.
Astley recalled the interaction as follows: "He said, 'Are you over here playing?', and I said, 'No, we're just doing promo' and then went, 'If you want to put a band together, let me know. I've worked with all the greats.' And I knew he had - he'd worked with some of the best guitar players on that planet."
Unfortunately, Sharon Osbourne-who is infamous for smacking Ozzy over the head when his ideas veered too far into the clouds-prevented us from seeing Astley perform alongside a leather-clad black vigil.
According to Astley, Sharon simply leaned over and asked, "Sharon just leaned over and said, 'Will you shut up? He doesn't want to play with your long-haired, tattooed fucking monsters."
Astley is appreciative of Osbourne's generosity even though he would have continued his profession regardless of the offer: "I was gobsmacked.:
He said that the fact that he recognized him for one thing, but also because he thought he could put together the appropriate band for him to go out and play 'Never Gonna Give You Up' with just amazed him.
