BET Hip-Hop Awards: Snoop Dogg To Host Pre-Show Battle Rap Competition

Before the BET Hip-Hop Awards get underway on Oct. 14, host Snoop Dogg will be hosting a battle rap competition in the ATL.

Those who want to join must submit a 30-60 second clip in which they "spit a fire verse" to social media, then tag @SnoopDogg while using the #GladiatorSchool hashtag, according to HipHopWired.

Here's the release:

Snoop Dogg and renowned New York Battle Rapper, Murda Mook, will host the epic rap battle featuring the best freestyle male and female emcees in the country to battle it out and be crowned the champion. The event will take place on September 19 at Masquerade, 695 North Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA 30308. Doors open at 5:00pm.

Submissions are due Sept. 14, and Snoop has a special message for everybody.

"Get down Sept. 19 to the ATL," he says in a video. "Club Masquerade, live and direct, for the first annual Gladiator School Hip-Hop Battle, brought to you by yours truly, in conjunction with my nephew Murder Mook. It's gonna be a lot of exciting battles, man."

Snoop also made headlines this weekend by posting a preview of his new song with Pharrell.

The duo already have two bona fide hits under their belts — "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "Beautiful" — and apparently decided to test their soul connection once more.

The clip features Tha Dogg doing ... er ... recreational activities while mouthing the words to their new joint, which will also get a guest verse from Kurupt.
