"Wicked" is one of the biggest and most watched stage musicals in the world. Since opening its doors at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway in 2003, the musical has been seen by billions of people worldwide.

It has also inspired generations of singers, actors, and artists worldwide because of its iconic songs and story.

Now that it is celebrating its 20 years since it opened, artists have given their respective homages to the hit musical. Broadway newbie turned pop star Reneé Rapp is one of the most recent artists to honor the show.

Rapp, who traces her roots back to the Best Performance by an Actress at the 2018 Jimmy Awards or the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, found her way back home when she asked her crowd if they knew what day it was last Monday night.

For those who do not know, "Wicked" officially opened on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre on Oct. 30, 2003, 20 years ago. A few blocks away from Terminal 5, the venue of Rapp's concert, "Wicked" just finished its Wicked 20 green show, which lead stars Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel visited earlier that day.

In a fan-captured video, Rapp then invited indie-folk singer Lizzy McAlpine to perform a stunning impromptu duet with her.

The two took turns singing the lines of "For Good," the show's final duet in the musical. McAlpine sang through Glinda's lines while Rapp sang more of Elphaba's.

"that sounds amazing! I love Wicked and those two singers are so talented. I wish I could have been there to see them perform," a fan mused online.

'Wicked' 20th Celebration

In celebration of the milestone, original stars Tony legends Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel reunited at the Gershwin Theatre, where they received a standing ovation when they arrived before the show.

According to People Magazine, Alyssa Fox and McKenzie Kurtz are currently playing Elphaba and Glinda, respectively. John Dossett, Michelle Pawk, Jordan Litz, Jake Pedersen, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, and William Youmans, serve as supporting cast for the show.
