More celebrities joined the trend and dressed up as Taylor Swift for this year's Halloween, including Savannah Guthrie.
The "TODAY" talk show host surprised everyone when she went out as Swift as she recreated the "Anti-Hero" singer's opening performance look during her The Eras Tour shows. She also completed the look by wearing a blonde long wig.
However, Guthrie did not impress people with her surprise.
Savannah Guthrie Earns Mixed Reaction From the Public
On Tuesday, October 31, Guthrie presented her Swift look for Halloween, which included a pair of knee-high sparkling silver boots. She also perfectly copied the crooner's iconic bangs.
The presenter can be seen "performing" Swift's "Cruel Summer" on a stage outside the Rockefeller Center while showing the track's notably moves alongside her backup dancers.
"Savannah Guthrie shows what Taylor Swift will look like in 20 years," one joked.
"Ummmm isn't she a bit old for this outfit?" one added.
However, some defended the 51-year-old TV journalist and applauded her efforts.
"Women hating on other women! For dressing up on Halloween (fully covered) and having an amazing time. She showed her legs. The audacity!" another wrote.
Taylor Swift's Halloween Costumes Are in Demand
Out of all the Halloween costumes, the public found it more interesting to come out while dressed up as the "champagne problems" singer.
According to Billboard, the searches on Google Trends went from near-zero to an overwhelming amount of popularity starting on September 20. The search surged again on October 15 and 20 before this year's Halloween season.
The outlet added that people specifically search for Eras Tour Halloween costumes.
One of the business owners reacted to the costumes' popularity and how the demand spiked before October 31.
"I'm up until 3 or 4 in the morning every night, customizing bodysuits," Etsy creator Angela George said. She reportedly sold more than 300 pieces of Swift-inspired costumes in October alone.
Travis Kelce's costumes also caught people's attention, as some got them in pair.
One Halloween retailer - 3 Wishes - also noted that Swift's "Pop Star Concert Tour Costume" and "Purple Sequin Pop Star Costume" were sold for $119.95 and $27.95 respectively.
Even Heinz found inspiration from the couple and referenced The Eras Tour in one of its ads.
"It's a new Era for Heinz," the brand said in a September 26 post. "Introducing Ketchup and Seemingly Ranch. Limited-edition bottles coming soon."
