According to Billboard and Luminate, Taylor Swift's "1989 (Taylor's Version)" arrived at 1.653 million album-equivalent units in its first week. This is now the biggest week for any album since Adele released her album, "25," in 2015, which earned 3.482 million units.
It is not a surprise anymore that a huge chunk of Taylor Swift's album units comprised of 1.359 million traditional album sales. It is now the biggest sales week for any of her albums to date. Its original album, "1989" held the record with 1.287 million album sales in 2014.
According to Luminate, Taylor Swift's 1.359 million debut currently stands as the sixth biggest album debut so far.

This officially brings Taylor Swift's official chart leaders on the Billboard 200 charts to 13, making her the highest-ranking female artist on the list. Meanwhile, Swift broke another career milestone because all of her re-recorded albums she released hit No. 1 on the said chart.
Streaming units for "1989 (Taylor's Version)" only raked up 288,000 while track units are 6,000.
Taylor beats her personal best of "Midnights" with 1.578 million album-equivalent units. It was her personal best in seven years.

Because of its huge debut at No. 1, Taylor Swift has also achieved several career milestones with the record.
She has also broken the largest week for a Vinyl purchase. 693,000 Vinyls were accounted for last week, making it the biggest Modern-Era Single-Week Vinyl Sales Record since Luminate began tracking in 1991.
With 288,000 streaming units with 375 million streams, it also marks Taylor Swift's biggest streaming debut for a re-recorded album. "Red (Taylor's Version)" rocked with 303 million streams, which she has since now bested to.
The re-recorded album is also the fastest-selling record in the UK in 2023. Last week, 1989 (Taylor's Version) sold 184,000 copies, more than doubling the 2014 original's first-week sales.
