Taylor Swift kicked off her highly anticipated and successful "The Eras" tour several months back, and she has performed nearly all of her singles from every album from her discography--except one.
As per Swifitie-run X (formerly known as Twitter) accounts, the "Anti-Hero" singer is yet to perform the first single from her 2019 "Lover" album, "ME!"
Many of the singer's fans seem to think that Swift hates the song or that Swifties bullied her into not including it in the setlist; some expressed their frustrations towards the song's haters.
"'ME!' haters, are you happy now?" A fan wrote.
"I'm actually really f**king salty about the way this fandom has treated this song, it literally didn't deserve any hate whatsoever - it should have been on the setlist."
"The 'ME!' hate needs to stop," another added.
Meanwhile, there were others who voiced just how relieved they are to not have "ME!" as their surprise song during the tour.
"I already feel bad for the people who will get this as their surprise song. It better stay buried."
"Whoever gets this as a surprise song I feel bad."
Swifties Bully Taylor Swift Over 'ME!' Lyrics
This is not the first time Swifties have expressed their dislike towards the song; the first time Swift received backlash for the song was back in 2019 shortly after it was released.
According to reports, a line from "ME!" seemingly offended many fans: "Hey kids, spelling is fun!"
The line received so much backlash online that the "Cruel Summer" singer eventually removed the line altogether.
"So the lyrics, that's a tone decision that we made in the studio. We literally were like, okay, let's say 'Hey, kids! Spelling is fun' because we want everyone to know that this song is not really serious because it's not, like, a serious love song," Swift explained in an interview about the lyric.
Taylor Swift Swears Off 'ME!'
Swift has performed "ME!" a handful of times since its release, but she has not performed it live for quite some time-it is yet to be chosen as a surprise song at "The Eras" tour as well.
Some fans defended Swift and the lyrics in a Reddit thread, noting that the point of the song was to be lighthearted and fun.
"I like it because the entire song is a bit juvenile and therefore the line adds to the campiness and makes it seem more self-aware. I will shout this line with no shame," a fan wrote.
"I miss it and thought it was silly and fun," another added.
