Kiko Loureiro, popularly known for being the guitarist of Megadeth, previously announced in September that he needed to step away from performing temporarily from the band's tour and it's been a few months since his absence; is he coming back any time soon?

Now that he had been gone for a while, he took his time to address his absence and it appears that fans won't see him shortly due to personal matters.

"I want to share with you a decision that hasn't been easy for me," he began his statement posted on his official Instagram account.

He explained that he was able to discuss his matters with Megadeth's management and Dave Mustaine himself, and they came to a conclusion that it's best to "extend" his absence.

"I don't want to hinder any of the band's plans or the hard work of all the incredible people involved in the tour," he added. (via Blabbermouth)

Kiko Loureiro Extends Absence From Megadeth

Although he didn't clarify what made him decide to extend his absence from touring, he further continued the post by commending Megadeth and expressing his gratitude for his time with the group.

He wrote in the social media post that his nine years with the band have been "unbelievable" as he was able to win a Grammy, travel to different places for tours, and many more.

In addition, it was an honor to share the stage with his childhood heroes such as Dave Mustaine, James LoMenzo, and Dirk Verbeuren.

Loureiro also thanked the fans, writing, "Your dedication is inspiring, and I have immense admiration and respect for all of you."

Kiko Loureiro Had to be Absent for his Family

According to Rolling Stone, Kiko Loureiro stepped out of touring because he had to be "home with my children."

He added that he wanted to help his kids face the "difficult challenges" that began erupting back when he was on the road.

Throughout Megadeth's tour, he was filled in by Teemu Mäntysaari for the remainder of their tour dates during the fall.

In other updates, Megadeth's next show according to their official website will be at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, on April 9, 2024. For tickets, meet & greet passes, and more details, check out this link.
