Stray Kids has dethroned Taylor Swift's "1989 (Taylor's Version)" with the arrival of "ROCK STAR" at the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
This is now officially the Korean supergroup's fourth chart-topper since they debuted at the Billboard 200 chart in 2022.
Stray Kids 'ROCK STAR' Billboard 200
According to Billboard and Luminate, Stray Kids' "ROCK STAR" debuted with 224,00 album equivalent units.
213,000 units among them are physical album sales. The huge sale is primarily attributed to their 11 different collectible CD editions, with alternative packaging, and randomized merchandise inside, 11,000 units only account for Streaming, which equals 15.68 million official streams from the project's eight songs.
The publication pointed out that they are the first act in so long to have debuted all their first four albums at the top spot of the Billboard 200 chart since Alicia Keys.
In 2022, their album, "ODDINARY," arrived at the top in April of that year, followed by "MAXIDENT" which arrived in October 2022.
"5-STAR" only launched in June 2023, and "ROCK STAR," their second album this 2023, arrives at No. 1 too.
"ROCK STAR" is also deemed the 22nd mostly non-English language album to hit No. 1 in chart history, following the likes of Karol G's "Mañana Será Bonito," Bad Bunny's "Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana" and even TOMORROW X TOGETHER's "The Name Chapter: Temptation," among many others.
Billboard also noted that the group has the fastest accumulation of four No. 1s on the genre-blending album chart since Taylor Swift did it within 16 months - she had "Folklore," "Evermore," "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)" between August of 2020 and November of 2021.
