Ludacris is breaking his eight-year hiatus next year, as he announced that he will be releasing new music in 2024; what took him so long?

Ludacris is returning to the rap game.

The rapper has announced that he will be ending his eight-year hiatus next year as he gears up to release a new project on the horizon.

"Yeah, some music projects will be coming out next year. I don't wanna fake, I don't wanna stutter-step," Ludacris revealed during his interview with BET.

"It's definitely some music coming next year, but I don't know if it's like an EP or an LP. We're going to figure it out," he added.

According to reports, the rapper has not released any new music since his 2015 album "Ludaversal," which landed the No. 3 spot on the Billboard 200.

Now that he has lived his life enough to become inspired to release music again, Ludacris is ready to jump right back into the recording studio.

Ludacris Chose Acting Over Rapping?

Elsewhere in his interview, Ludacris revealed that his music career has taken a backseat because of his acting career, however, aside from acting, he has also been "living some life" and "getting hungry."

"So it was just taking a step back and getting hungry again, living some life. 'Cause when you put out music, in order for it to be organic and real, you gotta talk about what goes on in your life," the rapper explained why he disappeared for so long.

"So if I had like nine consistent albums, sometimes you gotta take a step back and live some life so that you have a lot more to talk about and that's what I was doing."

The rapper starred in several movies like the "Fast & Furious" franchise, "The Ride," "End of the Road," and "Dashing Through the Snow."

In fact, Ludacris wants more acting gigs going his way, and even suggested that he would not mind being cast in a DC or Marvel movie.

"That's what I'm looking for - one of those roles or like a Training Day villain-type role," he added.

Ludacris' Net Worth

According to reports, Ludacris boasts a $40 million net worth which comes from his music and acting careers.

While his acting career has been his priority for the past couple of years, Ludacris' music has raked in the dough.

He earned some of his biggest awards through releasing music, like Aa Grammy Award for Best Rap Song for "Money Maker," and his collab song with Lil Jon, "Yeah!"
