Jelly Roll Explains He Makes Music to do THIS Instead of Entertaining Fans

Jelly Roll is quite new in the music industry, but he already took over country music by being nominated in major awards and amassing millions of fans from all over the globe.

However, he clarified that he's not making music just for the sole purpose of entertainment, but rather, he wanted to connect with his audience.

The musician spoke about his career at the backstage of the CMA Awards 2023 where he won his first-ever major award, the New Artist of the Year.

"I'm not here to entertain... I'm here to connect. That's what music does," he said. (via Taste of Country)

He explained that before he was "articulate" as he is today, he could only speak in the form of a song and he's proud of it.

"Even sometimes, like Jim Croce, I had to tell my wife I love her in a song," he added.

Jelly Roll Uses Songwriting as a Form of Therapy

Later on, he noted that music in general for him is a form of therapy and he has been using if or a long time.

"I think what helps me with my mental health, and it helps me be so joyous," he said, adding that understanding the therapy is involved not only in the process of writing music, but solely in the music itself and it's a powerful thing to do.

Since he's still early on in his career, the musician said he's just starting and he wanted to share his talent with other people in the near future.

2023 is a massive year for Jelly Roll as he was able to drop his first-ever country album titled "Whitsitt Chapel" and he also went on tour across North America.

Jelly Roll Grammy Nomination

The recent news comes a few weeks after it was announced that Jelly Roll is nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards.

He took to his official Instagram account to share a video of himself completely emotional because he was overwhelmed by emotions after receiving the news that he was nominated for the major awards show.

The singer is now up for the Best New Artist award as well as the Best Country Duo/Group Performance for his song titled "Save Me" with Lainey Wilson.

He said in the video that the greatest honor an artist could ever receive is a nomination for a Grammy award and it was one of the reasons why he felt very emotional.
