Selena Gomez debuted a new look on her Instagram Story; the singer has traded her signature brunette locks for a lighter wash with blonde highlights.
According to reports, the "Single Soon" singer was spotted leaving her hotel in Paris sporting the new hairstyle, wearing a low-cut black tweet Valentino blazer; it was the same look she shared on Instagram.
Earlier this year, Gomez expressed her interest in changing her style and looks up-perhaps hinting that she is gearing up to release new music.
Several months ago, she dropped her first single in three years and traded in her usual muted and understated looks for something more flashy and colorful.
Meanwhile, the new look has sparked an online debate among netizens; many wonder if the change of color is simply a diversion from what Gomez got during her short social media hiatus-plastic surgery.
Did Selena Gomez Get Plastic Surgery?
Gomez' new look received a myriad of reactions from people online; while many complimented the singer, others questioned whether she got any work done.
"She showed a picture of Lily-Rose Depp to the surgeon," one wrote.
"Lily-Rose Depp's long lost sister all of a sudden?"
"She should've stayed off social media," another added. "It's giving botched."
"Is she paying you to call her stunning?"
'She's done something to her face?" Another wrote.
Other netizens compared Gomez's current face to a picture of the singer from the early 2010s, and alleged that the "Rare" singer got chin filler, and noted that "her chin is not normally this pointy."
However, Gomez's fans came to her defense and claimed that the singer is simply grappling with the side effects of her illness, Lupus.
"Do you guys forget she has Lupus?"
"Isn't it because of her Lupus?' Another added.
"I don't think y'all realize how treatment for autoimmune conditions causes people's looks to fluctuate. Selena also likely can't even get elective surgeries because of her Lupus."
Selena Gomez's Lupus
Gomez was diagnosed with the chronic illness, Lupus, in 2014; since then, she has experienced weight loss, weight gain, and even a kidney transplant.
According to reports, the "My Mind and Me" singer revealed that she had also undergone chemotherapy for Lupus.
"My lupus, my kidney transplant, chemotherapy, having a mental illness, going through very public heartbreaks-these were all things that honestly should have taken me down," the singer said.
"I was diagnosed with lupus, and I've been through chemotherapy. That's what my break was really about."
