Selena Gomez has not been around social media for a while now since she was dragged mercilessly by netizens a month ago for her statements about the Israel-Hamas conflict.
However, things have not changed much since the "hiatus" because now, people are accusing her of being a zionist and supporting Israel due to her friendship with heiress Nicola Peltz.
An X (formerly known as Twitter) account called Selena Gomez Charts shared screenshots of Gomez supporting Peltz's upcoming projects, despite the heiress' stand in supporting Israel.
"Selena Gomez has made it very clear that she is what the people around her are, and she believes that her friends' ideas speak to who she is.
"'Figure out what type of friends you have, you are who you surround yourself with,'" the account wrote.
Netizens did not take kindly to the tweet and criticized the "Rare" singer's murky stance in the Israel-Hamas conflict.
"Disgusting," one wrote.
"Selena the real mean girl."
"Oh, she's over," another added.
Selena Gomez Branded a 'Coward'
According to reports, this is not the first time the "Lose You to Love Me" singer drew flak over the issue.
"I've been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that's going on in the world.
"People being tortured and killed or any act of hate toward any one group is horrific," she continued in her Instagram Story.
"We need to protect ALL people, especially children, and stop the violence for good. I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't. Love, Selena."
It was the last part of her message that sent netizens into a spiral, many accused her of not using her reach, with 400 million followers on Instagram, as a proper platform.
In response to the hate, Gomez announced her hiatus from social media, and shortly afterward, Rare Beauty-her makeup brand-shared a statement about the "Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza."
