Bob Marley has been regarded as one of the legendary artists under the reggae genre and many people would think that all of his songs were already released following his death, but little did they know there was one lost track that finally made its way to music streaming platforms recently.
According to NME, a song recorded in 1968 by Marley titled "Selassie is the Chapel" has been finally dropped 40 years after the musician's death.
The outlet noted that the track was never published and only a handful of people were able to hear it in the past. The latest release is now a part of JAD records, the same record label who handled the reggae legend.
Fans could stream the new song on major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and more. In addition, there will also be limited edition seven copies that are available for purchase, but take note that they only produced 2000 units for this one.
Bob Marley New Song Inspiration
The latest song is an homage to Haile Selassie, an Ethiopian emperor and sacred figure in the Rastafari movement which Bob Marley was a part of.
Mortimer Planno was the one who wrote the song. He was the singer's mentor in his career and he was able to meet Selassie during his visit to Jamaica decades ago.

The track is iconic and unique on its own as it is the first release of JAD Records in almost a decade. The record label was founded by Johnny Nash in 1967 and Marley shared a specific bond with the founder as they continued to record tracks throughout his career.
Unfortunately, Bob Marley passed away at the age of 36 in 1981, just after he became a global icon. The musician died due to a metastatic brain tumor.
Bob Marley Biopic
In other updates, Bob Marley will be the center of a biopic titled "Bob Marley: One Love." His character will be played by actor Kingsley Ben-Adir.
The singer's family was involved with the film's production. In addition to Ben-Adir, other actors include Lashana Lynch, James Norton, Tosin Cole, and many more.
Directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, the movie will revolve around the late singer's life, especially that he overcame adversity and he inspired many people through his music.
Fans will be able to watch the movie in theaters starting this February 14, 2024.
