Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish are among the youngest and most accomplished artists in the music industry today, but instead of a rivalry going on between the two Grammy Award-winning stars, there is friendship.
During the "Vampire" singer's interview with the Los Angeles Times, she touched on her camaraderie with the "Ocean Eyes" hitmaker: "Billie is such a kind, wonderful girl, and I feel very lucky that it's not about competition-that we're just looking out for each other."
According to reports, Eilish wrote "Goldwing" with Rodrigo as her inspiration; it is about a young woman who is "at risk of being taken advantage of."
"They're gonna tell you what you wanna hear / Then they're gonna disappear / Gonna claim you like a souvenir / Just to sell you in a year," Eilish sings.
The "Bad Idea Right?" singer had nothing but great things to say about the song and Eilish; "I love that song," she said before reflecting about the lyrics, "I think for any young person in the entertainment industry, that's a little bit of a mindf**k."
Billie Eilish Dedicates 'Goldwing' to Olivia Rodrigo
During her interview with the Los Angeles Times, Eilish revealed that "Goldwing" was inspired by the "drivers license" singer which was spurred on by "protectiveness."
"I have a song called Goldwing from my last album that's kind of about her," Eilish said. "I've never said that to anyone. It's not only about her. I was just thinking about her when I was writing it. She was coming up, and she was younger than me, and nobody had ever been younger than me."
Rodrigo is 14 months younger than Eilish, but they both experienced a breakthrough in their music careers at a young age, and had to grapple with the industry all while exploring their identity and music.
"Olivia was getting big, and she was just, like, this little dainty child," the "What Was I Made For" singer explained. "I felt so nervous. I was worried about her. She came up in that acting world, and people are so weird. I don't know - I just felt very protective over her."
Elsewhere in her interview, Eilish added that her "worry" is extended to "everyone," before noting that she "sees herself in all these young girls."

Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish's Friendship
Rodrigo and Eilish's paths are destined to meet in one way or another-after all, they are both artists, and the industry is not as big as everyone thinks it is.
Although there are not a lot of reports that cover how or when their friendship started, it can be deduced that the pair formed a bond over being young, talented artists.
