The Sphere in Las Vegas is one of the most promising music venues of 2023 because of its ultra-modern facilities and massive LED screens inside and out. Since this stage has become an iconic venue in Sin City, there have been several musical acts that are rumored to play their concerts there; is Dead & Company one of them?
According to a report published by the New York Post, the band, composed of Bob Weir, John Mayer, Mickey Hart, Jeff Chimenti, Oteil Burbridge, and Jay Lane, are in talks to play at the venue.
This comes after U2 became the first music act to perform at the Sphere in September and they extended their series of shows to March 2024.
Sources noted that the conversation between the band and the venue are still in the works and not 100% sure.
If ever the residency would push through, it will be scheduled by "next summer."
As of this writing, none of the members of Dead & Company have confirmed whether the recent information are accurate or not. They also didn't reveal their plans for a residency in Las Vegas.
Other Musicians Who Could Possibly Play at the Sphere
In other reports, James Dolan, who is the owner of the Sphere and also the owner of Knicks and Rangers, reportedly wanted Beyoncé to perform at the famed venue.
According to a previous report published by the same publication mentioned above, Beyoncé's team are currently in talks with Dolan about a potential residency.
Sources noted that her mom, Tina Knowles, and husband, Jay-Z, have already taken their separate tours to check out the venue, which is worth a whopping $2.3 billion.
It was also noted by the insider that Beyoncé's team wanted $10 million to produce the show, which is almost the same money that U2 received from the Sphere to perform.
As of this writing, Beyoncé has yet to confirm if the rumors are true.
Aside from the "Renaissance" singer, other musicians who are also being considered to perform are Paul McCartney, Bon Jovi, and Lady Gaga.
The Sphere Owner Spoke With Different Artists
During an earnings call in November, Dolan noted: "We're having conversations with artists across a wide variety of genres, including discussing runs of varying lengths."
He also added that they are expecting to have two additional residencies for the first half of 2024, but details behind it have yet to be released and the artists have not been mentioned.
