The post did not disclose Colin Burgess' cause of death. It remains unknown whether he suffered from any health issues or if he died peacefully in his sleep.

Fans and other musicians took to X to express their heartbreaks and pay tribute to the drummer following the news.

One said, "One of the greatest songs of all time. RIP Colin Burgess. You will be greatly missed."

"RIP Colin Burgess, you made my workouts motivating," another wrote, while a third person shared, "RIP Colin Burgess 11.14.46-12.16.23. AC/DC lit a fire under every stuck up mother back in the '70s. Before my time but my father made sure I "discovered" this band before I got too old to know better."

Another fan on Facebook said, "Very sad news , as I love rock music especially from Australia, and he was a part of a generation of great musicians that kicked off the music industry in Australia, condolences to his family and friends."

Remembering Colin Burgess

Burgess became part of AC/DC when the band recruited him in November 1973. He formed the group alongside Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar), Angus (lead guitar), Dave Evans (lead vocalist), and Larry Van Kriedt (bassist).

However, his time with AC/DC was cut short as he was fired from the group in February 1974 after appearing on stage while drunk. He dismissed the claims and said someone had spiked his drink.

He was later replaced by a series of drummers, and he went on to play with other bands.

Aside from AC/DC, Burgess became part of the Australian rock group the Masters Apprentices. They were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association Hall of Fame in 1998.

His family has yet to release a statement to address the loss. Details about the funeral and memorial have not been confirmed, as well.
