Laura Lynch, a founding member of Dixie Chicks, tragically lost her life on Friday afternoon in a head-on vehicle accident. She was 64.
According to TMZ on Saturday, the performer passed away after another automobile struck her car on a highway south of El Paso, Texas.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Along with Robin Lynn Macy, Martie Erwin, and Emily Erwin, Lynch co-founded The Dixie Chicks in 1990. The Chicks, who removed the word "Dixie" from their band name in 2020 in response to the Black Lives Matter Movement, expressed their sorrow at Lynch's passing in a heartfelt Instagram message on Saturday.
They released a statement together saying, "We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks.
"We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together. Laura was a bright light...her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band."
The statement continued, "Laura had a gift for design, a love of all things Texas and was instrumental in the early success of the band. Her undeniable talents helped propel us beyond busking on street corners to stages all across Texas and the mid-West."

"Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this sad time."
Following the tragic death of the singer, a number of celebrities, including Beyoncé and Sheryl Crow, honored her on social media.
"RIP to the beautiful Laura Lynch, founding member of The (Dixie) Chicks," Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour official X account accounted tweeted.
The Chicks rose to prominence as one of the most divisive musical acts as a result of their opposition to Bush and his war. They faced criticism once more following the controversial CMA Daddy Lessons Performance.
"Feeling your sadness," Sheryl Crow wrote on Instagram.
Fans also flooded The Chicks' social media post to express their shock and offer their condolences.
"I'm so deeply sad to hear this. Sending all my love to her friends and family. She seems like she was the happiest, kindest person, a fan wrote.
Additionally, a deluge of sympathies was posted on The Chicks' social media post by fans. "I'm very sorry to hear this. I'm sending her friends and family my deepest love.
A fan remarked, "She seems like the happiest, kindest person."
"I hope that the memories they have of her may bring solace to her loved ones. Her contributions to the formation of my all-time favorite band are much appreciated," another said.
