The year 2024 has arrived, and fans were able to ring in the new year with Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.
Together, hosts Rita Ora and Ryan Seacrest looked stunning as they increased anticipation for the event. Confetti cannons shot waves of color into the gathering throng as the ball plummeted over Times Square at midnight.
Sabrina Carpenter stunned the audience throughout the show by changing the outro to something really NSFW during her rendition of "Nonsense."
This, after her colorful 2023 - where she already offended some religious individuals.
The 24-year-old rising pop sensation became embroiled in a controversy inside the Catholic church due to the provocative music video for her Halloween-released single, "Feather."
The blonde singer stunned churchgoers and Brooklyn Bishop Robert Brennan by dancing among pastel coffins in a skimpy black dress inside Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-Annunciation Parish in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as shown in the video.
Following the controversy, Monsignor Jamie J. Gigantiello-who had granted Carpenter's team permission to film inside the church-was stripped of part of his 15-year-old administrative responsibilities.
She ain't sorry.
But then, despite these hiccups on her career, one can said Carpenter is now on musical map.
Apart from opening for Taylor Swift on her tour, which she called a dream come true, her own music career really took off.
Her last project for the year - a Christmas album, also gained positive comments.
According to critics, Carpenter's lyrics are masterful pop hits, combining catchy melodies with a hint of edge.
Fruitcake is the 2023 rendition of All I Want For Christmas Is You, a song that has become more popular recently.
A Nonsense Christmas, a remix of her widely popular song Nonsense from Carpenters' studio album emails I can't send, kicks off the six-song tracklist. Carpenter's hit song has humorous, flirtatious holiday twist thanks to the addition of certain lyrics. Listen below:
After that, "Buy Me Presents" maintains Carpenter's signature pop style while reinterpreting a classic Christmas carol with lines like "From a city that's colder (brrr) But damn it, he's so hot." It makes me think of all the corny classic films you watch by the fireside while sipping hot chocolate. Carpenter talks about competing with her partner for their attention during the holidays. However, Carpenter's skill set is far more extensive.
She collaborates with Cindy-lou on incredibly moving songs about her lover's other girlfriend, recalling their one encounter and how she keeps thoughts of them separate from her when he should be with her.
All things considered, Fruitcake is the ideal holiday EP, providing us with the ideal balance of lively, enjoyable tunes to dance to around the Christmas tree and Carpenter's trademark introspective, deeply personal lyrics. Even though the new year has indeed rolled around, who's to say we cannot remain Christmas-y and listen to this album all over again?
