2 Years Ago Today - In 2012, Josh Turner's "Your Man" was certified Platinum by RIAA.

5 Years Ago Today - In 2009, Taylor Swift's Fearless knocked it out of the park, garnering RIAA gold, platinum, double-, triple- and quadruple-platinum.

16 Years Ago Today - In 1998, Faith Hill got her first triple-platinum from RIAA for It Matters To Me. On the same day, Travis Tritt's The Restless Kind was awarded platinum.

20 Years Ago Today - In 1994, Trisha Yearwood hit #1 on the Billboard country singles chart with "XXX's And OOO's (An American Girl)."

26 Years Ago Today - In 1988, Highway 101 hit #1 with "(Do You Love Me) Just Say Yes."

30 Years Ago Today - In 1984, Ernest Tubb's funeral was held at Two Rivers Baptist Church in Nashville. Bill Monroe sang "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and over 500 people attended the service, including George Hamilton, Hank Williams Jr. and Lorrie Morgan.

47 Years Ago Today - In 1967, Elvis Presley recorded "Guitar Man" (by Jerry Reed) at RCA studio in Nashville, Tennessee. The song went on to become the last of 11 #1 country hits for Presley.

57 Years Ago Today - In 1957, Johnny Cash's first album, With His Hot And Blue Guitar, released on Sun.

Happy Birthday to Ashley Monroe. The 28-year-old singer/songwriter from Pistol Annies is the writer behind Jason Aldean's "The Truth" and Miranda Lambert's "Heart Like Mine."
