The 2024 Golden Globe Awards capped off with an exciting mix of winners.
"Oppenheimer" became the most-awarded film of the night with five awards while "Succession" sealed four wins for television. The most nominated film, "Barbie," only went home with two awards.
2024 Golden Globe Awards Snubs
'Daisy Jones & The Six'
Starting off with perhaps the biggest musical series of 2023, "Daisy Jones & The Six." Nominated for Best Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television, the series lost to "Beef."
Meanwhile, Sam Claflin and Riley Keough, both frontrunners in their respective acting categories, also lost to "Beef" stars, Steven Yeun and Ali Wong.
'The Color Purple'
The biggest movie musical adaptation of the year failed to bag a nomination at the stacked Best Picture, Musical, or Comedy category in the first place, which makes it more even heartbreaking.
Similarly, Fantasia, who was a frontrunner for Best Actress in a Motion Picture for Comedy or Musical, lost to "Poor Things" and now 2x Golden Globe Winner Emma Stone. Likewise, Danielle Brooks, nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture, lost to Da'Vine Joy Randolph for "The Holdovers."
Oprah, who presented the Best Picture - Drama, was present, fittingly wearing a purple bodysuit. Steven Spielberg, one of "The Color Purple's producers, was also present last night.
'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour'
One of the world's most important stars, Taylor Swift, was present at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards with her slinky green dress. For a change, Swift was not nominated for Best Original Song, but she was nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, an award specifically created for a film that became a juggernaut at the box office.
Swift's sensational "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" was nominated in this category, which was the only reason why her attendance was warranted at the event. Despite breaking numbers that only Michael Jackson has set, Swift lost to "Barbie," which critics also believe was a handover to the film.
The only thing that Swift brought home that night - a tasteless NFL joke from the show's host, Jo Koy.
'Wonka'
Another movie musical that failed to squeeze itself into the Best Picture for Musical or Comedy category also failed to take home any award. Timothée Chalamet, who received critical acclaim for his portrayal of Willy Wonka, was nominated for Best Actor for Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. He lost to Paul Giamatti from "The Holdovers."
'Barbie'
The most nominated film of the night with nine nominations including Best Picture - Musical or Comedy, only managed to win two awards, one of which was the Golden Globe for Cinematic and Box-Office Achievement.
Greta Gerwig lost her Best Screenplay to "Anatomy of a Fall" and Best Director to Christopher Nolan. Margot Robbie lost to Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling to Robert Downey Jr.. While Billie Eilish and FINNEAS won Best Original Song, Dua Lipa and Mark Ronson's "Dance The Night" and "I'm Just Ken," went home Globe-less.
