A few months ago, Ari Lennox went viral on social media for reacting the way she did when a fan threw a water bottle on stage while she was performing as an opening act for Rod Wave's "Nostalgia" Tour. More recently, the R&B star has finally spoken out about the incident, which she considered to be a heavy moment for her.
In a video circulating on social media, the singer could be seen sharing her side of the story, in which she began with, "I was never comfortable... I just remember every show, just racing to get off stage," she said of opening for Wave.
The "Shea Butter" songstress further explained that when she realized the people were getting angry at her, she affirmed herself that Rod Wave's fans aren't her crowd and "it will never be."
"It was tough and it was heavy on my soul feeling that energy especially the day when the bottle happened because that side of the stage, I felt the energy, I wasn't surprised that it happened, I felt it... It was all darkness, it was all the energy coming" she recalled.
What Happened to Ari Lennox at Rod Wave's Concert
The recent news comes a few months after the "Purple Haze" songstress opened for Rod Wave at his concert at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California.
While she was singing one of her hit tracks, one audience member threw a water bottle at her that almost hit her arm.
Lennox was not happy with the incident to the point that she was visibly mad and started looking for the person who did that.
"I'll f*** you up... Who did it? Who the f*** did it? I don't play that s***. I'm a real a- b**** and I will f*** your s*** all the way the f*** up," she told the crowd, before adding, "Don't you ever disrespect a beautiful Black woman on the f****** stage like that."
As of this writing, the person who threw the object on stage was not caught, and it's unclear whether that concertgoer was reprimanded or not.
Ari Lennox Sobriety Journey
Ari Lennox was known for having a straightforward attitude on social media, but she reflected on her past actions back in July, saying that she's celebrating her 7th month of being sober.
She acknowledged her previous issues and noted that she can't imagine herself going back to her old ways.
"That's a lot of sober flights. A lot of sober conversations. A lot of facing things raw and head on. Don't know if sobriety is forever or not but I can't imagine going back to how things were." (via The Root)
