Amy Winehouse Biopic: 'Back To Black' Trailer Released
One Media released Amy Winehouse's biopic trailer, "Back to Black" on the internet today, and it featured notable scenes that fans have grown to see on the media with Winehouse before her tragic demise in 2011.
It featured her iconic scene at the 2008 Grammy Awards when she received the Record of the Year Award, presented by the late Tony Bennett.
The trailer perfectly teased moments from Winehouse's life, chronicling her adolescence, adulthood, shot to fame, and the creation of one of the best-selling albums of all time, "Back to Black."
According to Variety, "Back to Black" has received support from the Amy Winehouse estate, Universal Music Group, and Sony Music Publishing.
"I don't write music to be famous," Abela as Winehouse says in the trailer of the Amy Winehouse biopic. "I write songs because I don't know what I'd do if I didn't."
Amy Winehouse Biopic: 'Back To Black' Trailer Reactions
While the trailer looks promising, not everyone likes it.
On social media, there were brutal criticisms about how the actress, Marisa Abela, looked nothing like Amy Winehouse.
"no matter how much you try and recreate real shots, the movie is doomed to fail if the lead actress bears NO resemblance to the person being portrayed and is fucking up the voice and the accent AND isnt singing live imitating her and instead only lipsyncing to studio recordings," one said.
"As a massive Amy fan, this feels like it doesn't do her justice. You might as well just watch the Amy doc and get the real deal," another claimed.
"I can see Lady Gaga playing this role perfectly well. Sad Amy Winehouse had to go," a fan noted.
"I'd forgotten this was being made and how much this woman does NOT resemble nor acts like Amy, bye, probably will flop," someone pointed out.
Another point of criticism was that it was a biopic film that was signed off by Amy Winehouse's father who has reportedly had a contentious relationship with the late music icon.
