Mariah Carey has done a fantastic job of ignoring all of those rumors that she and Nick Cannon are ready to divorce and has instead attempted to focus most of her attention on her upcoming The Elusive Chanteuse Show. Her latest gig will kick off on Oct. 4 in Tokyo and according to Mariah's Instagram account rehearsals are in full swing. The problem is that in between focusing on her job and 'dem babies' – 3-year old twins, Roc and Roe – the singer is said to be extremely depressed over her failing marriage and it is taking a serious toll on her overall health.
According to sources close to Carey, many of her friends are worried that she won't be able to pull herself out of this funk and may need professional help. The diva has reportedly battled depression on various occasions since becoming a Billboard heavyweight but has always white-knuckled her way through to the other side. Now there are reports out there stating that she is mixing alcohol with pills to numb herself. This time around sources say it's completely different because Cannon has made a huge impact on her life and she's not sure how to find happiness without him.
Fans of the starlet are thrilled that she is about to hit the road and play some dates again. Throwing herself into work has often seemed to be one of Carey's strongest coping mechanisms so the timing for her The Elusive Chanteuse Show probably couldn't be better. Even if her personal life is as messy as has been widely reported then at least she has the opportunity to feel at home on stage again.
Will the singer use the tour as a form of therapy or are her friends right in thinking that rehab might be the best next stop for her?
