Songer Speaks Out on Social Issues as a White Rapper
Last year, the rapper spoke with the outlet to share his thoughts about tackling social issues like racism as a white person.
He answered: "I think everyone has a responsibility to call out discrimination and inequality wherever they see it, full stop. You can never lose track of the fact that this is a Black genre that I'm in love with, so I have to respect that, and I always will, publicly."
He further noted that speaking out against racism is important to talk about because the public couldn't ignore "one of the biggest parts of the world" which is "societal injustices."
"If you want to be a writer and a voice, you want to be on the right side of history," he said.
In the same interview, he tackled about his musical influences growing up and he credited the Black Eyed Peas, Oasis, Stereophonics, James Morrison, Tinie Tempah, J Cole, and more.
