7 Bad Dress Codes on Album Art: The Beatles, Rolling Stones, KISS and More
Today marks the 50th anniversary of 'Help!' going to no. 1. It was a great album by The Beatles, and also one of the most misguided fashion stataments on an album cover. Music Times digs up less-then-classics from KISS, the Jackson 5 and Girls Generation for further examples of bad uniform choices on record art. -
U2, Michael Buble, Jessie J and Other Celebrity Musicians Playing on Subways
U2 cancelled its previously planned residency on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon after frontman Bono suffered a debilitating bicycle accident last year, however the band came back in a big way for several sketches on an episode last week. One featured the band, in disguise, playing its classic "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" in a subway station at Grand Central Station, one of the busiest transport hubs in New York City. Passerby didn't pay much heed until the band shed its costumes (which weren't very good to begin with) and played "Desire." U2 took part in a long musical tradition known as busking, or playing in a public space, generally for cash tips from those standing by (U2 didn't ask for money of course). They weren't the first major musical act to play in the subway...here are five other acts, from Avril Lavigne to Michael Buble who took to the underground. -
Wiz Khalifa's 'See You Again' and More: 5 No. 1 Soundtracks and The Singles That Powered Them
This week's Billboard 200 featured the soundtrack to Furious 7 reaching no. 1 after four weeks on the charts. What's propelled the album to higher and higher sales every week? For one thing, the release of the film. More importantly however is the new metrics behind the Billboard 200, which now counts song streams and downloads toward "equivalent album sales." When an album has one song that really hits home with the population, that in turn helps the album that features it to move higher on the Billboard 200 charts. For Furious 7, that song is "See You Again," a track by Wiz Khalifa paying homage to deceased actor Paul Walker. -
Justin Timberlake, Bobby Brown, Zayn Malik and More: 5 Boy Bands After The First Member Left
Zayn Malik has announced that he's leaving One Direction, a declaration that Directioners have been fearing for weeks, following in the rumors of his infidelity and general dissatisfaction. We're not suggesting that the group is officially done, but the history of boy bands suggests that when one member decides to leave the fold, that's a good indication the honeymoon, and often the group itself, is over. Here are five cases of major members leaving a boy group and what happened afterward. Featuring One Direction, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and more. -
The 13 Songs of D'Angelo's 'Voodoo': Ranked for its 15th Anniversary

In celebration of this incredible album, here are its 13 songs ranked, from weakest to best. -
'Guardians of The Galaxy' Soundtrack: 'Awesome Mix Vol. 1' Goes Platinum...Fans Looking Forward to Sequel, 'Vol. 2'
Something skipped the attention of both Billboard and ourselves when reporting the Billboard 200 and album sales totals this week: Guardians of The Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1 broke the million-albums sales mark last week with its 35,000 haul last week, bringing it to platinum status. Had it managed to sell just a tad faster in the last weeks of 2014, the mainstream soundtrack accompaniment to the film Guardians of The Galaxy would have been just the third album released during the year to attain platinum status, joining Taylor Swift and 1989 as well as Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour as albums reaching platinum. The soundtrack for Frozen was the second highest-selling album of 2014, being the last soundtrack album to reach the million-album mark (although it was technically released during 2013). -
They May Not Have Made $72 Million, But They Were at No. 1 Before High School: Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and More
Today's hot story: A student at the esteemed Stuyvesant High School has reportedly made more than $72 million while playing the stock market during his lunch break. The Queens resident, who is being referred to as the "Teen Wolf (of Wall Street)" is also rumored to have already bought a BMW with the payouts, although he doesn't have a license to drive it. It's tough to compare big time investors such as this prodigy will probably become with musicians, because investors just make more money. Period. We can compare this young man to those in the music industry who got their starts at an incredibly young age. -
