HAIM Hosts Benefit Concert: Jenny Lewis Performs New Song "Girl on Girl" [WATCH]
To commemorate the life of a late friend, Sammi Kane Kraft, Haim generated Sam Jam, a benefit concert in which all proceeds were given to the Our House Grief Support Center. Friends and family of the four-piece band joined them on stage to show support, such as Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear, Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend and Jenny Lewis. The Troubadour in Los Angeles hosted the charity concert for the close companion of Haim, who was tragically killed at just 20 years old by a drunk driver in 2012. Kraft's impressive baseball talents once landed her a role in the film 'Bad News Bears.' Lewis, known for her participation in Rilo Kiley and The Postal Service, perfomed her newest song titled "Girl on Girl." With the assisted talents of Haim, the collaboraion gained heavy participation, chanting and clapping from the crowd along to the beat. -
Purity Ring Announce New Album 'Another Eternity,' Share New Track 'Begin Again' [LISTEN]
Canadian synthpop duo Purity Ring have announced the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album "Another Eternity" and have shared a new track from the album titled "Begin Again," which you can check out below. The album is set for release March 3 through 4AD and will be the duo's first album since their 2012 debut "Shrines."According to a press release, via "Consequence of Sound," "Another Eternity" marks the first time Purity Ring members Megan James and Corin Roddick had recorded while in the same room, as "Shrines" was recorded in a long distance Postal Service-style between their respective homes in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Montreal, Quebec. The press release also describes Roddick's "percussive skills and sense of composition" as having been "refined and honed," resulting in an album that explores "gloomy valleys and gleaming peaks in equal measure."You can check out the tracklist for "Another Eternity" here:01. In an interview with "Noisey" — it is more like a filmed conversation, really — Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley and Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes revealed that 11 years ago they recorded an album called "Blood on the 4-Tracks." Though some of the songs recorded for this album eventually turned up on Bright Eyes and Rilo Kiley albums, the complete album has never seen the light of day, and they recently discussed releasing it. -
The Postal Service to Release Concert Film 'Everything Will Change' Nov. 14 [WATCH]
Consequence of Sound reports that influential electro-pop duo The Postal Service will be releasing a documentary about their 2013 reunion tour titled "Everything Will Change." The Justin Mitchell-directed film primarily focuses on the duo’s performances at Berkeley, California’s Greek Theater over two nights in July 2013, and will also include interviews and backstage footage. -
